Festival of the Sea (Fall)

Formerly Oktoberfest, the Old Village Association of Port Royal decided to rename our Fall festival to more accurately reflect our maritime heritage.  The Festival of the Sea provides festivities throughout the historic Old Village of Port Royal.  There is always live entertainment, a beer garden, delicious specialty foods prepared by local restaurants, and of course lots of fresh, local seafood.  Other highlights typically include a car and truck show, Children’s Festival hosted by the local elementary school, civic group booths, and art exhibits/craft vendors whose works include handmade jewelry, glassworks, pottery, paintings, and much more.

This year’s festival is Saturday, October 15th and admission is free!  Tickets for the food and beverage items may be purchased the day of the event.

Soft Shell Crab Festival (Spring)

Join us on Paris Avenue in the Village of Port Royal and delight in a Lowcountry favorite, soft shell crab.  This is one of our annual festivals and is held every Spring as our climate begins to warm significantly and trees and flowers “spring forth” with beautiful blooms and new growth.  Activities for the 2011 Soft Shell Crab Festival include a classic car show, craft fair and flea market.  There will be lots of food vendors, lots of soft shell crabs, beer and soda!  A day of great fun for everyone.  The local elementary school will be hosting a Spring Festival for the Kids with lots of rides and fun.  The Lowcountry Estuarium and Port Royal Historic Foundation will be attending along with the Fire Department, Port Royal Police, Clemson Cooperative, and other local organizations.  Be sure and explore the Lowcountry Estuarium to learn how a healthy estuarine system makes it possible to enjoy the bounty of crab and seafood found in our local waters.  We also invite you to take a walking tour of the town, which includes a stop at the Port Royal Museum, housed in the historic Union Church.

This year’s festival is Saturday, April 23rd from 12:00pm – 5:00pm and admission is free!  Tickets for the food and beverage items may be purchased the day of the event.
