Resolutions encouraging public to wear face mask when appropriate
RESOLUTION NO. 4-2021
A RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING THE USE OF FACE COVERINGS
WHEREAS, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (“COVID-19”) is a severe acute respiratory illness that can spread among humans through respiratory transmission; and
WHEREAS, the disease COVID-19 continues to present a public health concern requiring unique protective measures and vigilance; and
WHEREAS, on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared a world-wide pandemic; and
WHEREAS, on March 13, 2020, the President of the United Stated declared a National Emergency for the United States and its territories in an effort to reduce the spread of the virus; and
WHEREAS, on March 13, 2020, the Governor of the State of South Carolina, Henry McMaster, declared a state of emergency for the State of South Carolina; and
WHEREAS, the Port Royal Town Council agrees with the CDC, SCDHEC and other agencies that COVID-19 continues to challenge the health, safety and welfare of the public; and
WHEREAS, the CDC and SCDHEC advise the use of cloth face coverings and other protocols to slow the spread of COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, Governor McMaster on March 5, 2021 issued Executive Order 2021-12, which offers suggested guidelines for wearing face coverings and other actions intended to help reduce the spread of COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, the Port Royal Town Council believes it to be in the best interest of Port Royal residents, employees, and visitors to encourage the use of face coverings and other protocols in appropriate indoor public settings to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Port Royal Town Council encourages residents,
Employees and visitors to contribute to the public’s safety and well-being by wearing face-coverings in appropriate indoor public settings, by social distancing when possible, and by working together with respect and courtesy to employ other protocols to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
